CCC Students' Artwork Exhibited For The June Art Event Extraordinaire At
The Goose Hollow In Seaside, Oregon
Four Clatsop Community College students, Vanessa Neuenfeld, Allison
Greeley, Diane Dagmar Lane, and Brenton "Flip" Christensen will have
their artwork displayed at the Goose Hollow at the Cove in Seaside, OR
during the month of June 2008. These four students are currently
enrolled in one or both of the Basic Design and Introduction to Drawing
classes.
"This year we have had an extraordinary group of students with a
tremendous amount of talent," says CCC Art instructor Kristin Shauck.
She explains that she seeks to create an environment of exploration and
experimentation by introducing a variety of techniques that students may
take in an individual direction. As a result, the works of the students
include a wide variety of media from ink and colored pencil to acrylic
and papier mache.
The first year students are excited to be able to have this opportunity
to have their works viewed and potentially purchased by the public.
Vanessa Neuenfeldt says that "for me, as a new artist, the most exciting
part about art is the creative process: the idea of beginning with
nothing or maybe something inspirational, and creating your own
individual piece. I enjoy playing with perspective and composition.
Sometimes they fall easily into place and sometimes it's a challenge. I
also enjoy the use of color, and tend to use warmer tones when I paint."
Allison Greely will be displaying a drawing entitled: In and out of the
Spirit World. "This picture was inspired by a story I heard," she
explains. "It is about two koi fish, one light and one dark. They were
balanced like Yin and Yang. The koi could pass in and out of our world
and the spirit world. If anything were to happen to either one, our
world would be chaos."
Diane Dagmar Lane considers each new work as being a new journey. "The
pen, the brush, the hand, the sight, the mind, blend into one. Creation
becomes art and the art is my journey," she says.
The Goose Hollow is located at 220 Avenue U on Seaside's south end and
is open for both lunch and dinner. |
