WARRENTON -- The region’s newest, biggest and best Fourth of July event will be in Warrenton this year.
Now in its second year, the Old Fashioned Fourth celebration runs from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Warrenton City Park, Third and Alder streets.
Everything is designed for old-fashioned family fun and everything is free, or of very minimal cost.
The event is organized by the Warrenton Business Association and co-sponsored by the Astoria-Warrenton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Here’s how the day lines up:
Noon: A community barbecue at the Warrenton Fire Department.
Noon to 7 p.m.: Family fun activities at City Park, including vendors, a car show, food booths, live music, a petting zoo with a giant tortoise, pony rides, games, races, a mechanical bull and a kids zone with a giant slide, bungee run, bounce house, climbing wall and dunk tank.
3 p.m.: The official Fourth of July parade along Main Avenue, from Second to Ninth Streets. Dozens of individuals, groups and businesses have signed up to participate in the parade.
The idea behind Old Fashioned Fourth is to keep the event to no cost or minimal cost so that everyone can come out and enjoy it without having the worry about what they’re spending, said Krista Bingham, WBA chairwoman.
