Pier 39 hosts it low key 5th annual 4th of July Party

With all of the events going on in town………..

Pier 39 hosts it “low key” 5th annual 4th of July (Astoria Independence over the Brits) Party, kids invited (My Daughter Victoria and Son Nate sent out Invites to their pals, so I had to get “formal” here), we’ll have hamburgers, BBQ Chicken, hotdogs, goodies, watermelon and beverages, beer and wine for the adults…

Duration: From 4/5 - Until the fireworks finish or the Food, Beer and Wine and Coffee Girls are Gone.    July 4th, Friday, 2008.

This will be our 5th year and it’s a chance to give appreciation to what we believe in. “American/Astorian Freedom”.  It’s a time to sit back in the lawn chairs on the Pier and just enjoy the day look down on the communist, terrorists and tyrants and say “God Bless America!”

There is no cost; No expectations and really… No BS… We just ask for good conversations and neighborhood fun.  Frank will tell the story about his Grandfather charging San Juan Hill with Teddy R.;  Floyd will be telling stories of charging the Sand Hills in Kenai.  Give my wife Sheryl a hug for just putting up with all of this…..

If it rains or blows:  We take the Captain Suite in force or head to Rogue for more Beer and Spirits (Rogue will be a “No Host” and No. Floyd will not be opening a “Tab” I do believe in pure Capitalism there).

I’m told that we “Bribed” Skip Hauke to arrange the fireworks at dusk off the West End of the East Mooring Basin……Again, we are the best kept Secret in Astoria….

Parking is available on the “Pier 39” Shoreside Lot and Abbey Lane and 38th and 39th Street.  For those who have a 5th Wheel, there is room at Pier 38 RV Park for you, (please don’t drive it on the pier this year).

Sand is being delivered for the “Beach” Thanks to Jim Wilkins. Tent Sites available at the Cannery Woman’s Park. Kayaks and Canoes - Boats Welcome.  (Please don’t “moon” the Condo People this year, they are invited).

All are welcome; bring the pier employees, family, friends, lovers and whatever’s… and feel free to pass this e-mail on to those you would like to see show up or those who I couldn’t find their e-mail address.

If you believe, perform or support anything “un-American”, there are other places you can go tomorrow…..We Support and Believe in the 2nd and 21st Amendments to the US Constitution here at Pier 39.

Don’t forget our 2 Favorite Establishments, Coffee Girl and Rogue Public Ale House while you are in town for the Weekend.

Thanks and see you behind the grill. (We’ll be using our new “Tax Payers Grill” as a Kitchen)
